DR ZAIM EMERGED AS CHAMPION OF THE UUM ALUMNI GOLF TOURNAMENT

SINTOK – Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) lecturer, Assoc. Prof. Dr Za’im Ahmad, emerged as the champion in the alumni category of the 2023 Alumni Golf Tournament held in conjunction with the 36th UUM Convocation Ceremony.
 
Dr Zaim, who demonstrated exceptional skills with a seven handicap according to the Stableford scoring system, emerged as the victor in the competition. Following closely behind were alumni, Mr. Muhammad Firdaus Azihan in second place and Mr. Mohamad Rizal Mohamad Radzi in third place.
 
The winner of the overall category went to UUM National Golf Academy (AGN) student, Mr. Haziq Zaman. Meanwhile, the winner of the invitation and non-alumni category was Mr. Amizul Amat, while Mr. Muhammad Kall Danish Mohd Haikal emerged triumphant in the student category.
 
The Chairman of the UUM Board of Directors (LPU), Tan Sri Datuk Wira Dr Hj. Mohd Shukor Hj. Mahfar, graciously presented prizes to the winners of the tournament, in which a total of 64 players took part.
According to UUM Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Alumni Golf Tournament serves to enhance connections and mutual relationships among the university, its alumni, students, and industry.
 
“A programme of this nature has the potential to facilitate the establishment of a functional network relationship between the university and both alumni and non-alumni. This network would enable collaborative efforts towards the development and mutual benefit of all involved parties,” said UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, when met at the Alumni Golf Tournament Prize Presentation Ceremony in conjunction with the 36th UUM convocation ceremony held this morning.
 
He said the tournament and the cooperation received from the participating companies and agencies demonstrated the existence of several entities that are inclined to engage in collaborative ventures with UUM for the purpose of joint development.
 
It is anticipated that the implemented programme will be able to contribute to the attainment of the Key Performance Index (KPI) by the university.
In the meantime, he expressed confidence over the utilisation of the participation fee, which will be allocated to the welfare fund overseen by the Alumni Centre, for the future benefit of UUM alumni who are in need.
